Our Company Chairman & Founder, Mr Robert Akira Bell, was invited by the Ukrainian Food Export Board (UFEB) to talk about the opportunities available to Ukrainian businesses wanting exporting their products to Asian markets, in particular, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
During the talk, Mr Bell highlighted the steps that Ukrainian businesses can take to enter into the Singapore market and build a presence, using it as a base to enter into other markets such as Malaysia and Indonesia.
The importance of the implementation of Letter of Credits was also covered.
"In addition to the product itself and price setting, it is important to understand that some of these countries may not be familiar with Ukrainian businesses. This becomes important when determining payment methods and risk." Ukrainian Food Export Board
Mr Bell also advised which products would be popular for the South East Asian market, highlighting the growing potential of Ukrainian grain exports to Indonesia.
According to Ukraine’s statistics, the bilateral trade turnover between Ukraine and Indonesia in 2017 amounted to 658 million USD and increased compared to 2016 by 11%. Exports amounted to 397,4 million USD and increased by 8,5% while imports amounted to 260,6 million USD and increased to 15%.
After addressing the Ukrainian congress, Mr Bell, alongside our Regional Director of Ukraine, Miss Tetyana Kolyesnikova had the chance to network with numerous Ukrainian suppliers and business owners. Resulting in factory visits to Sunflower Oil, Semonila and Wheat suppliers.
